Experimental Research on Bond Behaviour of Fabric Reinforced Cementitious Matrix Composites for Retrofitting Masonry Walls

Abstract Fabric reinforced cementitious matrix (FRCM) composites, also known as textile mortars (TRM), an inorganic constituting fibre fabrics and cement-based mortar, are becoming a widely used composite material in Europe for upgrading the seismic resistance of existing concrete (RC) frame buildings. One way providing is through application proposed FRCM system on masonry infill walls to increase their stiffness integrity. To examine effectiveness this application, bond characteristics achieved between (a) substrate (b) fabric need be determined. A series experiments including 23 performance tests, 15 direct tensile tests dry 30 shear brick masonry, were carried out investigate fabric-to-matrix matrix-to-substrate behaviour. In addition, different arrangements extruded polystyrene (XPS) plates applied test capacity insulation when large-scale wall.
